The Road of half-timbered churches in Champagne-Ardenne
In the region of the big lakes of Champagne, set off and go off to explore of a set of unique religious buildings in France: 10 churches and a chapel built completely in timber framings, between the end of the 15th and the 18th century.
Between lake and forest, in the borders of the French departments of Aube, Marne and Haute Marne, this route takes country roads and leads you near villages and church with unusual architecture.
In this region of bocage and forest, we used to build the religious buildings the most usual materials of the rural architecture: the wood and the cob, the mixture of clay soil and straw.
