The City of the stained-glass window is situated at the heart of Troyes, historic capital of the Champagne region. It is located in the Hôtel-Dieu-le-Comte’s enclosure  The City of the stained-glass window joins on a natural route between the cathedral and the basilica Saint Urbain, with prestigious stained-glass windows. The establishment is situated in an area appreciated by the tourists, along the quays of the canal of the Haute-Seine.

In the barn of the 18th century, there is an exhibition of prefiguration.
While the stained-glass window is sometimes difficult to see, here, everything is at eye level. For the first time, it is possible to see “closely” the stylistic transformations from the Middle Ages to nowadays.

In an area of 150sq.m, are presented the original stained-glass windows of all the times, regularly renewed. The proximity of the works is perfect to approach the stained-glass window on all the plans: esthetic, artistic, scientific, historic and technical.

Among the works, there are monumental pieces, like “L’Arbre de Jessé de Laines-aux-Bois” (Aube) : a stained-glass window of 3,50 m x 2 m, representative of the rich local production of the Beautiful 16th century.

The owners are very diverse: State, Municipalities, museums, private individuals, etc.

Simple and light, the scenography leaves all their place for works, light and color.

Arouse the esthetic emotion is the priority, the objective is also to awaken them to curiosity and to widen the knowledge on this art little known.
